We are a bi-annual, Vermont-based zine sharing meaningful conversations with individuals stewarding the earth and their social community.
Through in-depth interviews, we explore the powerful ways they are caring for and impacting their communities — whether through farming, art-making, educating, activism, storytelling, mutual aid, and beyond. Each conversation is complemented by portraits and photographs, bringing these stories to life with visual richness. We’re grounded in celebrating the vibrant and diverse community caretakers that inhabit our spaces. Sage offers a tactile, thoughtful experience, fostering reflection, inspiration, and a deeper understanding of the collectivity of people-powered radical changemaking and world-building.
Our zine is sold online and distributed to 40+ bookstores across the United States.

BEGINNING IN 2017
Our Roots
8 years ago Bella learned about the zines of the 70s as part of counterculture, progressive social movements. At the same time, she was building relationships with farmers, small business owners, makers, and do-ers in her home. She was inspired by these people taking care of their community in quiet, yet impactful ways. And so, through her love for ecological storytelling and hands-on creative work, Bella Brodsky began creating a small-scale zine that centered the stories of local community members; farmers, small business owners, creatives, makers, and activists. The first Sage zines were hand-stapled, hand-printed, and self-produced.
2024
Present Day
We launched our 9th zine this summer with guest writer and creative, Carina Crane! Sage is distributed to over 40 bookstores and sold nationally.
Carina has now joined Bella as a co-creator of Sage and they are working on issue 10.
